Chapter 2: Saving the Saviour

 (To make sense of the story, please read the previous chapter/chapters if you have not already)

A year has passed since Eggman’s unrelenting attack across Mobius and times are grim. Large groups of freedom fighters disbanded for safety and setup smaller factions to reduce the chance of being tracked, most of the cities were converted into plants for manufacturing robots and retaining prisoners, and the world’s most depended on hero is still nowhere to be found. Most have given up hope in finding the blue blur, but few still believe he is out there... alive and waiting to be rescued.

During a dark and dreary night in Spagonia, a yellow and red hedgehog dressed in green and white is seen traversing the rooftops of what was once a city of beauty and culture, now a city of metal, pollution and danger. Keeping to the shadows for safety from the mechanised terrors, she stops for a moment and talks to a unknown contact through a burst transmission communicator. The hedgehog states; “I am closing in on the target area now, but security is becoming heavier by the moment... can you confirm this is where Sonic is?” Awaiting a reply, she ducks into the shadow and barely avoids getting caught by airborne e-units. A synthesized voice on the other end of the communication replies; “I have been tracking Eggmans important files. A series of files was marked the downfall of a blue rat, which one would indicate to be potential information about Sonics condition. It also stated the location of where he would be held... let’s just hope for our sakes, he is there, and alive!”

The hedgehog sighs and heads towards the plant where she and her contact believe that Sonic is being held. Backtrack to a few hours prior, and a group can be found making a plan, consisting of female hedgehog resembling Shadow, the same yellow and red hedgehog from the rooftops, and a charcoal fox with a scar over one eye. A white chameleon with pink hair runs in urgently with some seemingly important news. “Sorry to interrupt your planning guys, but I just received a interesting transmission.” She plays the transmission on her laptop back on the laptop which contains the synthesized voice from a unknown contact. “This is a message to the factions within the Spagonia area. I have hacked into Eggmans files and camera feed and found a blue hedgehog trapped inside one of his bases. If intel serves right, this hedgehog is the same one who disappeared over a year ago. For the sake of our world being returned to its former beauty, we must save him.  Attached are frequency codes for my contact and location of the target.” The fox, referring to himself as Pyrus, looks over at the others and commands; “Suzuki! You’re the best at getting through the city without detection, and the skills for keeping yourselves alive. If this info is genuine, I want this blue hedgehog on our team. Got it?!” Suzuki, who had been meditating at the time, agrees to the challenge ahead of her, collects some gear and heads out of the HQ on her mission.

Returning to the current time, Suzuki had manages to climb into a air vent that had been left unguarded and infiltrated into the headquarters of Spagonia Base Epsilon. She drops down from the air vent in a corridor and stealthily traverses the corridors and locates the room where Sonic had been held. She walks up to the force field prison that Sonic is within and follows instructions to disable the force field.  Sonic uncurls and opens his eyes to Suzuki, clearly weak and broken from his solitude and failure. Suzuki kneels down to the fallen hero, offering some water to Sonic, in which he drinks but not completely under his own strength. Suzuki looks around at the monitors and comments: “With conditions like these... anyone would go crazy or feel broken after a few months... let alone over a year...” She helps sonic out of the room in which he says “It feels good... to be out of that... prison”, with Suzuki replying ”Don’t get too confident just yet, we need to get out of this base first.”

Just as she finishes commenting on their situation, a alarm goes off and robots start flooding to their position. Looking around, trying to keep herself composed, she rushes with Sonic through the hordes of robots, avoiding turrets and getting locked in, the 2 escape the Base and head to the nearest rooftop. As Suzuki rests Sonic against a wall, Eggmans voice projects across the city, echoing “All E-Series units in Spagonia, Sonic the Hedgehog has been broken out of Base Epsilon. Prioritize the location and capture of Sonic and his helping assailant. HE MUST NOT BE ALLOWED BACK UPTO SPEED!!!” Suzuki breathes a sigh of relief to the situation they’re in, and looks at Sonic who is clearly exhausted. She nudges him, waking the blue blur up and says “Hang in there... okay, once I’ve gotten energy back, I’ll get us to safety. I just need you to stay with me.” In which Sonic lets out a exasperated chuckle and replies “you sound just like Amy...”

Suzuki remembers the name Amy Rose, with her giant hammer smashing through robots as if they were mere stand up cut outs of the real things. Suzuki smiles and comments “Well, my team is planning to reunite the factions... all we need is the return of the worlds saviour to help out.” She picks up Sonic and traverses the city all the way to her factions HQ. Suzuki heads over to the medical section where they are greeted by Lilly, a hedgehog nurse, which Sonic picks up on immediately on the fact that she shares resemblance with Shadow the Hedgehog. Lilly comments: “I was cloned from Shadow and my creator. I not only share his looks, but also have Chaos flowing through me as well. However, I prefer to help people with mine instead of bringing harm.” Suzuki lays Sonic on one of the beds and nearly collapses herself.

Lilly attaches a life support machine to Sonic and then checks on Suzuki, who reveals a bullet wound on the right side of her waist. Suzuki tells Lilly “I’m fine... please just, concentrate on monitoring Sonic as he’s the one in a worse off condition.” Lilly helps Suzuki remove the bullet lodged within her and places some dressing on the wound for Suzuki to apply pressure with. Sonic looks at the 2 girls and thanks them for their help, explaining what he went through before he was captured and eventually rescued, explaining Eggman’s hostile takeover, being driven close to insanity and the brink of death. Suzuki comments: “The fact you lasted that long Sonic is a testament to how strong of a hero you are, in body and spirit. Anyone else would’ve cracked and begged for a merciful death.” Pyrus watches on from outside the medical room, glaring at Sonic and thinking whether or not the risk had been worth it to save him. For the time being however, he’d have to allow Sonic to stay, for he was in no condition to defend himself.

Chapter 1: Eggmans Vengence

For years, Eggman had been thinking up various plans to destroy Sonic the Hedgehog, his friends and to bring the Eggman Empire into reality. But regardless of what plan he had, Sonic and co. were always there to stop his plans and send him packing to think up a new plan... or so they thought.

After his recent loss to Sonic and Friends, Eggman sits down at his computer and watches back recordings of his previous fights with all of them... from Sonic and Eggmans first encounter to their latest, he had been studying their attack plans, abilities, strengths and weaknesses in the hope that he could one day finally take over the world. With a evil smirk underneath the bristles of his moustache, he set to awaken all the robots he had been perfecting throughout the years... a fleet amassing in the hundreds of thousands, split into teams specifically targeted for specified sectors of Mobius, ensuring no place be untouched by his mechanized take-over.

Eggman spoke to himself; “I have been planning this ever since that blue rodent first put a spine in my side... these “eggsentric” plans, that sonic calls them, were merely just to gather data. What fools to think I was going to use a Cowbot to take over a small town?! Hahahahahaha!! This time, I won’t announce my attack until it’s fully in motion... and maybe, just maybe... I’ll finally have the empire that’ll bring Sonic and his band of freedom fighters to his knees!! OH HOHOHOHOHOHOOO!!!” With the commands in place, he sent off his army of robots to take over Mobius whilst he activated Metal Sonic for a special task.

Eggman instructed to Metal; “I want you to keep sonic distracted whilst the other robots reap havoc across Mobius. The less interference he runs on my plan, the higher the chances I will succeed.” He sent Metal Sonic off to do as he instructed and prepared his computer for his global domination speech.

Meanwhile, oblivious to the events that were about to transpire, Sonic and friends were kicking back in Adabat, enjoying a long awaited vacation. Sonic and tails were sunbathing, Knuckles decided to put his treasure hunting skills to the test by searching for anything valuable... whilst Amy, Cream and cheese made sand castles and played in the sea. Sonic looked over at Tails with a smile on his face and started unknowingly foreshadowing. He said to Tails; “Y’know buddy, it’s been a while since Eggman has posed a legitimate threat to be honest. I mean... he’s basically thrown endless idiotic robots at us, that I’m surprised he didn’t design one off of a kitchen sink. I just feel that... he’s got something big planned, and I don’t know what.”

Tails replied; “I know that feeling Sonic... I may be enjoying myself here, but I’m as nervous as you to be-“before Tails could finish, Metal sonic had located and confronted them. Sonic jumped onto his feet and grabbed his sneakers. “And this is just what I need to calm the nerves” he boasted, whilst putting on his sneakers. The 2 clash and speed off away from the others to avoid getting them tangled up in the mess.

Tails shrugs to himself as he goes back to relaxing... but their fun is short lived when various shadows start flying over them. Amy looks into the sky and sees that on closer inspection that there are thousands of Eggmans Robots flying over head with some closing in for an attack. Amy summoned her hammer out of thin air and shouted at Tails: “Get cream and cheese out of here! I’ll keep the robots busy whilst you get some distance!”

Tails reluctantly acknowledged Amy’s request, took Creams hand and rushed off through the jungle in a hope to find Knuckles along the way. Meanwhile, Sonic was fighting Metal Sonic all across Adabat, unknowing of what was happening until Metal stopped and started playing a transmission. The voice that could be heard was Eggmans, and he explained his plan; “I hope you have been enjoying your playtime with Metal, Sonic... because whilst you have been doing that, I have taken the liberty to send my vast robot army all over Mobius to mechanicalize it and transform it into the Eggman Empire. Look above you and you’ll see my plan taking effect. The main reason why I got Metal Sonic to get your attention was because I wanted you distracted whilst I spread havoc globally and went after your friends. The next time you’ll see me Sonic, is as ruler of the Eggman Empire... Toodles. OH HOHOHOHOHO!!!”

Sonic soon manages to subdue Metal long enough to escape and find out where the others have taken refuge in the mist of Eggmans domination. A short time later, he narrowly avoids Amy’s hammer, which seemed to have been thrown by one of the robots. Sonic grabs her hammer and rushes off in the direction it was thrown, only to find Amy and Tails knocked out, Cream and Cheese hiding in a cave for safety and Knuckles struggling against a horde of Robots. Sonic rushes in to aid Knuckles and Requests that they get out of the area as soon as possible, so they can get to somewhere they know is safe.

Sonic manages to wake Tails up, whilst picking up an unconscious Amy Rose... feeling like this was all on him because he was so easily distracted by Metal Sonic. The gang rushes off to where the tornado was located and Sonic asks tails; “Are you sure you’re okay to fly buddy?” in which Tails replies “I’m sure Sonic! Besides, we need you to for the defence part.” Sonic agrees with the reply and helps Knuckles load Amy into the passenger’s seat, whilst Knuckles rides on the wing of the plane with Cream and Cheese under his arm. But before Tails could take off, they were ambushed by Eggmans robots... Sonic didn’t want his friends to go down with him, so he cleared a path through so they could take off safely whilst Sonic brought them some time. He fought valiantly, but succumbed to the overwhelming number of robots, and was eventually captured.

Sonic later woke up in a high tech cell, especially designed for him and was confronted by Dr. Eggman. Eggman had the biggest evil smile on his face for a long time... he had Sonic where he wanted him... Eggman boasted; “Finally, I’ve captured you Hedgehog, and this time... you have the best seat in the house. OBSERVE!!” Eggman turns on the monitors surrounding Sonics cell, in which they show the Doctor’s plan coming to effect perfectly. Eggman boasted again; “I will finally be triumphant!! The freedom fighters are disbanding for their safety, their best hero is now under my control... and the Eggman Empire will finally be a REALITY!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!”

Sonic looked around at the devastation being shown on the screens and curled up into a ball, knowing there was nothing he could do. It was then; Sonic finally felt what it was like to be helpless and lost. There wasn’t a chance for him to be rescued by anyone, and there was no-one out there to prevent Eggmans plan. The future would now be grim and Mobius would soon be the Eggman Empire... the only thing he could hear now, is the echo of Eggmans evil laugh throughout the chamber.

This is a story that I had a idea about when returning from Summer of Sonic 2016. I was deliberating with myself whether to write this story or not, as it would take time for me to think of how to expand the story should people start to enjoy it. I would like to request those who have read the first chapter of this story to show some constructive criticism, if they choose to post comments.


This is the first time I am doing a Sonic the Hedgehog based fan story, so I may continue it depending on the feedback I receive. If you do like it, please share it with the Sonic the Hedgehog community as I mainly wanted to do this for fun and to use up free time, but I also don't want to feel that the time has not gone to waste. This is in no way a Profit Based fan story as of the time of this post.
